This beautiful 16th-century Grade II listed Pontysgob Cottage (The Pink Cottage) has been renovated to a high standard in 2022 but in keeping with the traditional characteristics of this fabulous property. Situated in The Llantoney Valley with the River Usk meandering behind it, Pontysgob Cottage has everything you will need for a relaxing break. The enclosed garden with seating area, large lawn and private hot tub is perfect for taking in the views and listening to the wildlife. There are also fishing rights on this part of the river for guests who wish to fish for salmon.
The cottage comprises of living room with large inglenook fire place and wood burner, Smart TV, original wood panelling and oak beams and well-equipped kitchen. The dining room has French doors leading to the garden. On the first floor is the master bedroom with 4-poster kingsize bed and exposed beams. Accessed through the master bedroom is the second bedroom with a double bed and exposed beams, each sharing a Jack ’n’ Jill shower room. The owner has thoughtfully provided bathrobes and complementary toiletries.
There are plenty of walks to be had from the property so get out and explore The Black Mountains and take in this fabulous scenery. This area has lots of history to be explored and fabulous St Issui’s church in the village of Patrishow with its 15th-century rood screen which is carved out of Irish oak, and look out for the rare medieval paintings on the walls.
Abergavenny is 4 miles away with its renowned food festival every September, along with plenty of shops , restaurants and bars. Monmouth with its wide high street and plethora of shops is 21 miles away and is also steeped in history. A visit to Monmouth Castle is a must along with the Monnow Bridge and Gate. The Brecon Beacons National Park is 25 miles and offers spectacular views from Pen Y Fan of the rolling countryside. Whatever you decide to do on your holiday this is the perfect property to base yourselves from.
