Positive: A great location in the Devon countryside if you are exploring or visiting the area. The property itself is clean and well kept. The key was easy to find and access. The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable, bathrooms modern and accessible. Excellent for a family. There was information on local attractions, where to park and a welcoming gift. It was a very positive experience. For those considering the place, parking appears scary at first, but we had no trouble finding parking at the Aveton-Gifford Village hall, a very short walk north on the road. We also noticed there was parking at a nearby park to the west, about the same walking distance. Aveton-Gifford can be a bit congested at times (popular place to visit!) but we were always able to park our rental car. The aforementioned park has a great playground, our kids loved it and played with the local kids as well. Consider that for groceries, and eating out, you may have to travel a bit and/or plan ahead. Kingsbridge is a short drive away and there's lots of good pubs & restaurants around although many are closed Monday or Tuesday. We like getting around and exploring new places so for us this is a plus!
Negative: We did not dislike the stairs, but some consideration is required for those with limited mobility - the stairways (particularly from ground to 1) are narrow and steep by North American standards. Bathrooms are on the 1st and 2nd floors. We had no trouble with them (including grandmother who was there with us in her 70s who was there with us), but if you have trouble with stairs, keep this in mind. I do not expect this constraint would be unique to this property though.
Summary: We would stay here again.
