Willow Tree House is a unique countryside retreat with plenty of space, walks from the doorstop and a host of things to do close by to keep all the family entertained. Willow Tree House is centred on Dovecote, built for Sir William Lynch in 1750 as part of the Groves Estate. An extremely attractive detached building which is Grade II listed, Willow Tree House is made of plum brick with red dressing and an hexagonal roof which gives it a quirky charm. The house has been sympathetically converted to make a comfortable family home; wrapped round by beautiful gardens with plenty of lawn space, Willow Tree House has gorgeous views across rolling Kentish countryside giving a sense of true peace and tranquillity.
Inside, you will find generously sized double bedrooms with large windows. The kitchen is a stunning mix of old and new with beautiful reclaimed oak complementing the modern American fridge/freezer and cabinets and work tops newly installed in 2019. The central island is the ideal place for a cocktail, or enjoying a lazy Sunday morning with a paper and cup of coffee.
The two sitting rooms are on the ground floor; the octagonal sitting room is comfortable and cosy, with its wooden floors and Smart TV. The second sitting room is an absolute delight with its ‘High and Mighty’ wood burner stove by Chili Penguin. There’s even a top stove to cook pizzas on when the fire is roaring! A Freeview TV, library of books and board games are all available to while away the hours if the weather is bad. Upstairs, the master bedroom is a delight with a king-size brass bed, stripped wooden floors and stunning views from the generous windows.
If you can tear yourself away from the house and gardens, a whole host of activities including canoeing, horse riding, surfing, shopping, birdwatching, punting, exploring Canterbury cathedral (a World Heritage Site), feasting on oysters in Whitstable, golf and fishing are all available within a short drive. Canterbury town centre offers all the shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs one could wish for and is only 9 miles away. Broadstairs, Ramsgate, and Sandwich Bay Beach are just a few of the sandy beaches within a 20-30 minute drive. There is a bus stop within walking distance. Shop and restaurant 2½ miles, pub 1 mile.
