Meritage Great House is situated on a scenic hillside of the very desirable location of Chocolate Hole, Cruz Bay.
Just a short four-minute drive from the ferry dock and downtown Cruz Bay where you can find the best restaurants and shopping on the island.
The house overlooks the Caribbean Ocean which allows you to relax poolside and listen to the surf roll in from Hart Bay Beach which is just a short five-minute car ride down from the house.
Meritage Great House has 4 large, air-conditioned bedrooms each with their own private ensuite bathroom. The 4th bedroom can be either set-up with a king size bed or 2 twin beds, The house has three levels, with bedrooms on each level, allowing for privacy.
The living area and kitchen are on the top deck which is fully air conditioned.
Enjoy the beautiful gentle breeze from the Caribbean Ocean. The fully equipped kitchen with Italian granite countertops is a great place to create a feast. Or you may simply want to grill out and enjoy your BBQ by the pool.
Relax on the sundeck around the private pool and wrap around covered decks on two levels, many different gathering places for your group, and secluded places for privacy. Lay in the hammock sipping your favorite cocktail while you watch a dramatic Caribbean sunset.
From the decks, you can see in the distance the islands of St. Croix and St. Thomas which make the perfect spot for morning coffee and pictures with friends & family.

Summary: Our party of 8 (4 adults 4 kids age 10, 14, 14 &17) enjoyed our stay at the Meritage Great House. The property manager, Abby, was fantastic, greeting us at the ferry after an unusually wet day with torrential rains! 3 of the 4 bedrooms are similar in size and the 4th suite on the lowest floor is larger with the most beautiful bathroom, the shower has shells and glass in the masonry. That is only bedroom with a TV if that matters to you, it did not for our group as there is large TV in main living area upstairs and the WIFI was strong throughout the house for using phones, etc. The multiple decks and expansive pool deck area were great, we loved watching the iguanas in the trees right off the deck. We also saw several hummingbirds who were attracted to the beautiful flowers and plants on the property. Location is close to Cruz Bay and easy to get to, I liked the driveway as well (with room to turn around) since you don't always get that with villas on St John where parking can be limited and tricky, especially with multiple cars. Definitely recommend for groups & families who need space to eat and hang out together (the couches are extra comfy!!), and then separate rooms to spread out in. Just fyi, would not be good for those with little kids as rooms are all on separate levels with outside entry only.
