About the house itself… Our 1,400sf home is located on a 3+ acre wooded lot, with approximately 367ft of water frontage on Fahi Pond. The home is quite unique being that it is a newer home built in 2009, but has the character of a home from the 1700’s. It’s like taking a step back in time while still having modern conveniences, so you get the best of both worlds. The home was built with many refurbished items like built in cabinetry and window boxes and reclaimed wood. The home sleeps 6 with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, one with a tub on the 1st floor and the other with a shower on the 2nd floor. One bedroom is on 1st floor w/a queen bed, while two additional bedrooms are on 2nd floor, one w/a queen bed & one w/a twin bed and daybed. The home is fully equipped to the point that you should be able to pack your bags & bring your groceries and just show up and start enjoying your time at The Fahi Pond Retreat!
The Fahi Pond Retreat has it all, with the added bonus of gazing out at peaceful Fahi Pond just steps away from the house, while listening to the loons and possibly seeing an eagle fly over. This home in Embden, Maine, nature’s paradise, will provide you with the options you are seeking, whether they be adventure based or about lazy days reading or writing a book and finding peace in the solitude that this vacation retreat offers. If it is solitude you seek, this home is perfect for artists, writers, yoga, meditation and just enjoying “being” here and absorbing all that the natural surroundings offer. Either way, you’ve come to the right place as you’ll also find leaf peeping, skiing, golfing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, ATVing and even riding in a seaplane, much of which are doable just steps from our front door, with others only being a short drive away!
What’s great about our year round home home is that you feel as though you’re remote, but you have so many things available to you within a short drive from our fully equipped home. There are multiple grocery store options, LOTS of outdoor activities, great restaurants, bakeries, antique stores, eclectic shopping & breweries, arts, theatre, horse shows, dog agility competitions, wedding venues, the Skowhegan State Fair - the Nations oldest consecutively running agricultural fair since 1818 filled with fun activities and events for everyone. And all of this in Embden or nearby towns like Skowhegan, Waterville, Bingham, Madison and Kingfield.
If it’s fishing you desire, Fahi Pond has a strong wildlife habitat offering 196 acres of shallow waters. Fahi Pond is a Wildlife Management Area managed by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, where you could test your luck at hooking a white perch or pickerel, just a couple of Fahi’s common catches. Motorboats with more than 10 horsepower are prohibited on Fahi Pond, which contributes to the serene atmosphere of the area. Within less than a 10 minute drive you can be at Embden Pond with a public boat launch, well known for its great fishing (even land-locked salmon) and pristine deeper waters. This pond is not only larger at approximately 6 miles, but it has a heavier activity level with motorboats and many homes around the pond.
Skiing is another favorite activity for many. One of Maine’s premier resorts, Sugarloaf, is less than 35 miles away. In the Sugarloaf area you can also take on many other winter sports like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and fat biking, all available through the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center where rentals are offered. Sugarloaf is also well know for their award winning golf course which is not only challenging but offers stunning mountain and river views. The list goes on of what you can find all season long, even ziplines and segway tours!
And speaking of golf, there are other courses just minutes from The Fahi Pond Retreat! The closest is Diadema Golf Club, less than 6 miles away, a 9 hole course with gorgeous fairways. There is also a restaurant on site offering many yummy items. Lakewood Golf Course is an 18 hole par 72 course in the town of Madison, less than 15 miles from The Fahi Pond Retreat. According to the Golf Digest website, Lakewood has “great holes that are challenging and lots of fun to play. Some like to call this a hidden gem.” This course also includes Maine’s only par 6, in addition to fantastic scenery.
Embden is located in Central Maine, surrounded by two picturesque rivers (the Kennebec River and the Carrabassett River) and bordered by the following towns and territories: Anson, Concord, Lexington, New Portland and Solon.
