A High-Mountain Retreat of Rustic Luxury, just above historic Twin Lakes Village | Ski Chalet in Twin Lakes

3 Bedroom Ski Chalet in Twin Lakes
A retreat like no other!
Enjoy a premium stay in a luxurious mountain cabin above historic Twin Lakes Village. Named after the 19th Century gold mine up the hill, The Bartlett is our family’s getaway from the rush of everyday life. It sits on the base of Mount Elbert—the Rockies’ highest summit—and is grandfathered within the San Isabel National Forest, giving it breathtaking views of several 14ers and the Twin Lakes.
This property is licensed through Lake County Land Use, License #2023–125
WINTER GUESTS (NOVEMBER-APRIL), PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING.
It gets cold up here—very cold! The roads are steep and winding, and it snows tons, and help sometimes is hours away. That's what attracts people like Mónica and me to a place like this.
The bold and resourceful get rewarded up here in winter. Think about it, Twin Lakes is a remote historic mining village nestled deep within a National Forest at the base of the Rocky's tallest mountain. Its wildness, peace, and beauty in winter are breathtaking—making a winter stay at our cabin, one of the most gratifying experiences anyone can have. Yet, winter in Twin Lakes is not for everyone.
A few things to consider:
Bring an AWD/4WD vehicle.
A front-wheel-drive Hyundai has no place on the Colorado Rockies in winter. If you can't bring your own four-wheeler, rent one. Hertz, Enterprise, and Avis have many great options available.
As I said, it gets freezing up here, even inside the cabin.
So bring plenty of warm clothes and a hardy mindest. At night, don't worry; we've outfitted each bedroom with a space heater and plenty of warm, cozy blankets.
It snows tons up here.
Be prepared to shovel some snow, run the snow thrower, or the unlikely possibility of being snowed-in a few hours. Like I mentioned before, help can be hours away, but while you wait for the county plows to clear the main road, start a warm fire, soak in the hot tub, and enjoy the magnificent winter views. These will more than make-up for all of it.
You will not be alone.
Mónica and I will always be just a phone call away. We will gladly help and guide you out of any unexpected situation. That's our commitment to you.
