Positive: I cannot say thank you enough to the staff, I did double check the comments on internet after arriving and I could see they improved the experience for foreigners the best they could, I arrive early and they actually gave me my key directly, the view was amazing and the private sauna (it's additional fee) was exceptional, I did ask if the air conditioning could but increased and they done their best even if it's centralised and they gave me a fan on request. The food was good, the morning buffet had a large selection, the butter was amazing, the bread not so much but it was acceptable. I really liked they provided a paper with English information at the check-in, I really appreciate their effort to make it foreigners friendly, the shop of the hotel was also really nice to get some food souvenir. And the view from the room, onsen and the restaurant were nice.
Negative: The room/hotel is really old, it's not old like history old but old into need renovation, I could see they have done effort, the private onsen look so brand new with even a private A/C, but the room and balcony itself deserve a refresh, so much potential. The A/C was also really old and centralised, it mean the room are really warm no matter what in summer because the sun hit the room all day, also as foreigners the level of heat we support is lower than Japanese so fully understand the A/C is not adapted but this is something you really need to be careful, I was coming out of sickness and the heat in the room make me almost pass out at first, I did considered checking to another hotel. For the food, it was good, but even with my Japanese understanding I would have appreciated a bit more details on how/when to eat some of the dish, but the personal was really kind so it was okay but I do advise if you don't speak Japanese or English to maybe be ready for the experience to not be up to what you expect. I didn't get any explanation about the bus, I ended up booking Uber all the time (which is okay because I really was struggling with the temperature) but it would have been appreciated. The cleaning of the room was also not great, I found some cleaning teeth brushes when moving the curtains and I didn't consider clean to leave water in the kettle, I didn't know how long this water was there when I moved in the room and wanted to make some coffee/tea, I ended throwing the water away directly. The fridge was also quite noisy sometimes, like starting moving and being really loud for 1 minute before going back to normal. Gym facilities need to be upgraded also, one lifting machine was broken which left only one working. The space is spacious but just old and not much equipment.
