Positive: Easily the best part of Playa Escondida was the white sand beaches and clear water. We appreciated that there were wave break walls set up, so the waves did not pound the beach and kept the water calm and fun to enjoy. Also, the water was not very deep, so wading out was easy. The closeness of the apartments to the beaches also only made it a short walk to get to the beach, and there was plenty of seating, though I imagine when it is crowded, beach lounge chairs are a premium. The one open restaurant, Kayuco Restaurant & Bar, was also very good with decent service. Overall, the food was flavorful, though it still could of used more seasoning. Also, La Tienda general store had a good selection of items at reasonable prices.
Negative: When I checked in to get the key at administration, we were not provided any information or orientation about the resort to include a rundown of the complex, what was open and closed, available amenities, and the schedule of events. Need a reception desk to greet guests and check them in, and focus on customer service and familiarizing them with the resort. Administration should focus on actually taking care of the complex. Found out that during this time of year, during weekdays, they have very little to offer during the week and very limited food options. The Wahoo's Bar & Restaurant was closed and only open on weekends, and there was a limited list of menu items at Kayuco Restaurant & Bar. Al;so, there were grills available at each canopy beach site, but when my wife inquired with the administration about using them, she was told they are not available during weekdays, though on our last day did see one family use them, so we were confused on what the policy is. I wish would had known about them up front and fi could have used them as I would have grilled hamburgers, etc, for lunch. There was also zero entertainment during the week. I have stayed at other resorts in Panama, and this had the fewest offerings of any of the others. Pretty disappointing on value given the amount of money spent on the apartment. There were also no menus at the restaurant in English nor any brochures of the site provided in English or Spanish.
