This peaceful, bright, 2 bedroom space in an historic PO landmark has a balcony deck that looks over the small Indian River and the D&H rail trail. Walk, bike and ski through meadows, wetlands and woods, past farms and grazing animals for 11 miles.
The apartment has high ceilings, 9 huge windows, and refinished original fir and maple floors throughout that add character and warmth to the entire 1015 sf space. The bright living room has an Apple TV box and monitor for streaming, music, podcasts, and games. High speed WIFI throughout the apt.
The building is on a slope, so the western-facing kitchen and porch rise up high over the river and the view is beautiful. Sunlight streams into the kitchen and onto the balcony throughout most of the day.
The apt. has several potential workspaces, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, and a well-equipped kitchen with antique cabinet doors over the stove to use as a pass-through to the adjacent bedroom with a rustic table that can double as a dining table or workspace. There is a large refrigerator and a bright pantry with a workspace from which you can walk out onto the porch. Light passes through a window into a little room that is full of board games and some toys. The bathroom has a small but nice shower, standard shower and sink amenities and a floor of slate from a local quarry.
The rail trail is 100 feet or so to the left as you walk out the front door. Walk over the bridge and past some old farm buildings and the trail opens wide up into 11 miles of gorgeous meadows and woods. The garden is in the back of the building next to the river (sometimes clear enough to take a dip in) and trail bridge and has a fire pit with plenty of wood for gathering around on crisp, clear nights.
The small, rural village of West Pawlet has no retail activity, but head to cute nearby villages and towns for artisanal and gourmet comfort food, farmer’s markets, shopping, arts and hiking. Ski at Bromley (19 miles), Killington (30 miles), and more.
