Montauk meets Scandinavia in this light-filled and welcoming year-round getaway. An artfully designed and decorated open-plan layout (all high-end furnishings, amenities, cook's kitchen, wood stove) leads through huge sliding doors to beautifully landscaped, fully fenced outdoor spaces with arguably the best outdoor shower in Montauk. All just a few blocks to Long Island Sound (including a cute beach), and everything the Harbor area has to offer.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
** This very private 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom 950 sq-ft “apartment” is the main living space of a renovated ranch house. The owner is in an adjacent space with its own private entrance and yard behind a fence, you will have as little or as much interaction as you wish. Renters have exclusive use of the front entry, parking for 2 cars, fenced front and side yards (Weber Gas Grill, dining table, seating, lounges, firepit with 4 adirondack chairs). Beach chairs and beach towels provided.
4 people maximum including guests. (Unauthorized overnight guests will be charged $300/night). Easy going, quiet, respectful, mature renters. All renters other than a family over 27 please. This is the owner's year-round residence and is not child-proofed. It may not be suitable for people with younger (rambunctious) children. One low-shedding, small to medium, non-destructive or excessively noisy dog will be considered. Please ask. No cats please.
LOCATION:
With our commercial (and sport) fishing fleets coming and going, and awesome restaurants (fancy and funky), bars, live music, bike rentals, and shops selling everything from bagels to liquor to the freshest seafood and gourmet foods, (all within walking distance) you can always eat well and have a blast. You have access to our neighborhood association private bulkhead on the Sound. (It used to be an actual beach but has succumbed to rising waters.) Bring beach chairs (provided), a picnic dinner or glass of wine and watch the sunset over the water. Or climb the steps down and take a dip. Mermaid Beach is about a 10-minute walk, or drive and park for free. It's free for anyone to use, and not as crazy as town. Montauk Village and Ditch Plains Beach are each a 6-minute drive, or an easy bike.
NOTE: the house is located on a main road and there are cars going by. Not honking or sirens etc like NYC but some traffic noise. The neighborhood and neighbors are generally very quiet as this is a "local" residential area.
