Positive: Club Napoleon Saumur is a truly gorgeous place, located in a historic building right in the heart of Saumur. We stayed in the Empereur room, which is huge, with a kitchen, utility room, and a shower room, but we also had access to a stunning salon and dining room. We were lucky -- no one was staying in the (small, but with a lovely bathroom) Imperatrice room, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The decor is sumptuous and interestingly eclectic, and our stay felt luxurious. The breakfasts were high-quality continental, Nicolas was an excellent host, and the price was very fair. A wonderful stay! *TOP TIP*: If you are traveling in a group of 3 or 4, rent both rooms (Empereur Suite, Imperatrice) and have the place to yourself for an outstanding experience.
Negative: Just a couple of minor things: the shower room is disappointingly small and drab, given the rest of the property. The fruit at breakfast could have been fresher. On Friday and Saturday nights, there is noise from the plaza which you can hear in the Empereur Suite, so light sleepers should be aware.
