Positive: The bathrooms are fantastic, lots of space if you’re staying with a family or multiple people. The beds are also very comfortable and decently sized. It is a true NYC apartment, so keep in mind the rooms themselves are small, but since we didn’t spend much time in our rooms besides sleep, that was ok with us! It has a washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, and a decent sized refrigerator too - which was nice! And getting into the building is super easy with an app, especially if you’re traveling with more people, there was no need to worry about sharing keys. The building also has an elevator… which is nice! Also, although this is not the neighborhood I originally thought I would be staying in, it was still fine - my friends and I never felt unsafe.

Negative: The location is not what we originally expected - it is not in east village, it’s in alphabet city next door to some housing authority properties. I wish that would have been more clear when booking as we were looking for a specific location and it is several blocks away from the listing address - which as you know in NYC can put you in an entire different neighborhood. It’s also a 15-min walk from any subway line, so be prepared for that as well if you’re traveling with lots of luggage. We ubered most places, which can get expensive, but it was faster than walking to the subway. We also had to wait awhile on the corner with our luggage for the host to let us into the property despite us being there at the stated check-in time, which is a little frustrating considering the check out time is earlier than other places at 10 am. Finally, be prepared for extra fees - the policies are strict. This is not going to be full service like a hotel, so something to be mindful of - you will be charged if you need assistance getting your luggage up, charged for every hour you are late with check out without advanced notice, charged for early check-in, etc etc. also something to note, the apartment does not have central a/c or window units, so if you are used to a/c, you may have issues here in the summer. During our stay, it got up to 72, and we had to open windows and break out the standing fan b/c it did get slightly muggy inside. nothing unbearable - the fan worked for me, but there was only 1 inside the unit, so if you’re in separate bedrooms, you’re out of luck. Also, I would suggest maybe blackout curtains… the sun really streams in in the morning… which is nice, except for if you want to sleep late!
