There is a Co-op, shops and pubs in Coldstream just 4 miles across the river where there is also an exceptional golf course in the grounds of the Hirsal, home of Lord Hume. The cottage, on the bank of the River Tweed, stands high above the river giving panoramic views into Scotland. Enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the scenery while watching the salmon jump and the fisherman spending a lazy day fishing (or if you prefer to fish yourself, a trout fishing permit can be obtained at the Cornhill P.O. and salmon fishing can be arranged in advance through the local agent who represents the owners of the beats of the Tweed).
