This comfortable, family-friendly home is on a quiet country road, very near boarding stables for horses. The house is so conveniently located. Not only are there hiking and horse trails steps from the front door, but you can easily walk on a beautiful country road to a sweet country store and a tavern/restaurant.
There is downhill skiing nearby in the winter (Okemo (30 minutes), Suicide Six (17 minutes), Pico (35 minutes) and Killington (30 minutes)) and much to do and see in the summer. Summer is our favorite time of year to be in Woodstock.
A short and pretty walk will take you to the village of South Woodstock where you can have breakfast and lunch at the South Woodstock Country Store or get your supplies for a meal at home. The Kedron Valley Inn, with its tavern and restaurant, is a lovely place for cocktails and dinner in Summer and Winter. Behind the inn is a pond with a sandy beach for swimming in the summer and ice skating in the winter.
If you enjoy horses, you will appreciate the close proximity to the Green Mountain Horse Association (GMHA), horse boarding (across the road, you’ll find Kedron Valley Stables) and the GMHA network of trails. In the Summer, there is hardly a day without horses being ridden or pulling carriages or buggies on the quiet road in front of the house.
The house is only 10 minutes from the village of Woodstock, called one of the prettiest towns in the United States. There are shops, restaurants, movie theater, and a national park. There is a lot to do in every season and in all kinds of weather.
Upstairs, you will find 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms, all recently renovated in 2017 and with central air conditioning. The largest bedroom has a queen sized bed and an en suite bath with walk in shower. The other two upstairs bedrooms also have queen sized beds and share the hallway bath, which has a tub. All of the mattresses were purchased in 2016 and 2017.
The kitchen is well equipped. You’ll find a coffee maker, nespresso machine, electric kettle, toaster, slow cooker and all the cookware you could possibly need. A Weber Grill is outside the kitchen for your Summer and Fall grilling.
The living room has a propane fireplace for ambiance and extra heat. The bookcases are filled with books, puzzles and games for you to enjoy. A room off the living room is equipped with a couch and a TV. There are dvds available.
The house has a whole house backup generator that will automatically turn on in the event of a power outage. The house has wifi through ECFiber Vermont, which is very fast. Cellular service is spotty in this area of Woodstock (verizon seems to work but not AT&T), but we have been able to use wifi with our phones to make and receive calls.
Please note that during the GMHA camp week the minimum stay is currently 6 nights to give families participating in that event an opportunity to rent the house.
