Positive: Port Fairy is a very pretty town. It has lots of dignified old buildings. Walking along the river to the sea is a pleasure. We went in February after school was back and it was lovely and quiet. This historic old house has a fantastic location very close to shops and good walks. The front and back yards are dog proof. The front of the house is stone ,while the rear is a later addition. there is also a small granny flat with bathroom and kitchenette A paved area at the rear is great for sun lovers, a bit too exposed for us. That leads to the granny flat and the large garage that is available for sheltered parking. There is lots of great food in Port Fairy. We enjoyed eating outside at Bottega Toscana which is just around the corner. It has Italian food done well. The staff are very friendly and everybody wanted to say hello to our little dog. We also enjoyed visiting The Merrijig Kitchen where they have a great selection of interesting entrees. On Saturday mornings there is a market near the information centre. The information centre run interesting guided walks of town. If you are a cyclist there is a rail trail to Koroit and on to Warrnambool.

Negative: The large couch is unfortunately a bit past its use by date. It doesn't offer much support. I would have liked a soap holder shelf in the shower.

Summary: A great base for an escape from the city, we enjoyed winding down in this friendly beautiful town.
