Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Good location for a stopover on the way to Ullapool. Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms comfortable, ample parking. There was also a singer in the ballroom providing live entertainment. The cooked breakfast was good.
Negative: The vast majority of guests were part of coach tour groups. There was no separate menu for non-coach guests. The dinner menu was the same for all guests and was a bit 1970s (4 starters, 4 mains, 4 desserts - the mains were beef stroganoff, lemon thyme chicken, haddock with broad beans and crushed potatoes, and a butternut squash vegetarian option. For the quality and lack of choice it was also quite expensive -£17 for a main course. There was no wine list available so we asked for a bottle of house Sauvignon Blanc and when we received the bill also found this to be quite expensive (more than £30) for the quality offered.
Summary: One night stopover - hotel good, food/wine less so
