North Avoca is a laid-back beach village with a welcoming community. This tranquil holiday location is perfect for lazy walks or hitting the waves, and is popular with locals and tourists alike. Take advantage of the beaches in the area and enjoy swimming, surfing, sand-castle building and sea-glass hunting.
Avoca Beach is beloved by all and is a pristine beach with soft velvety sand, making it the perfect place to escape the rest of the world. This family friendly beach is patrolled every day of the week, and is accessible to everyone, as people with a disability are able to book a Sand Cruiser wheelchair.
Once a month, the Avoca Beachside Markets take place at the picturesque Heazlett Park Foreshore. Enjoy a welcoming ambiance, live local music, and browse the 120+ stalls - all of which have something unique on offer. You’ll find stylish new and upcycled items, artisan products and gourmet food. It’s a lovely spot to spend a few hours or even a whole day.
For a unique movie experience, head to the Avoca Beach Theatre. This independent, family-owned theatre was built in 1951 and the architecture remains true to its history. This single-screen cinema is family friendly, and there’s a great selection of films on offer.
Appreciate the great outdoors and take on the Bouddi coastal walk. This track stretches 8km from Putty Beach to MacMasters Beach, and is known for its beaches, boardwalk and birdlife as well as for being one of the most beautiful Central Coast walks. You might see some migrating whales, the PS Maitland shipwreck, and sights from the Bouddi National Park Marine Extension. While this walk is relatively easy, it can be broken up into shorter sections for those who aren’t keen to break in their walking shoes.
Head to Block ‘n Tackle Brewery - this small batch brewery and taproom is a relaxed space offering locally brewed beers and ciders. Enjoy beer, food, tunes, and laid-back conversations, and if you get peckish, there’s occasional food trucks that visit the brewery, as well as an in-house menu of artisan cheeses and meats
If you want to be close to nature, you can’t miss visiting the Australian Reptile Park to meet the crankiest crocodile in all of Australia, and have some of the best animal encounters you can find in Australia. When you’ve had enough of the animals and want to enjoy bushwalking, the Rumbalara Reserve is basically right on your doorstep.
Aquafun Avoca Lake is home to some of the best fun and adventure you can find in the Central Coast. This must-do experience is home to Australia’s largest selection of human-powered pedal boats, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards. Jump aboard your watercraft of choosing and explore the tranquil waterway and extensive wetlands of Avoca Lake.
