If you don't own a four-wheel drive vehicle, there are plenty of rental options right in town. Along the loop, you will pass Lake San Cristobal (located just a couple miles from town), the second largest natural lake in the state. Spend the day on a paddle board, boat, or fish from shore. Take a walk out to the island on the suspension bridge. In the winter, bring your ice skates, cross country skis, or fishing hut! Hinsdale County also contains five, fourteen-thousand-foot mountains for all your high elevation needs.
