Hiker’s Paradise! Heated Pool, fire pits, and views | House in Santee

3 Bedroom House in San Carlos, Santee
Take it easy & relax at this peaceful dream oasis! Our backyard creates a unique getaway & tiki bar resort feel. We have amazing Mountain views! If you like hiking this is the place for you! Our backyard hiking trails lead to the TALLEST mountain in San Diego, Cowles Mountain! Plus there’s other trail options to explore! After the hike you’ll want to cool off in the pool and relax. Our place is 20-25 mins from everything San Diego has to offer such as the Zoo, San Diego beaches, downtown, & more!
Our home has a very unique layout! The living room, kitchen, dining room, one bathroom, and one bedroom with a queen bed is downstairs. Upstairs is an open loft which we placed beds on each side of the loft to create a two bedroom feel. As you walk up the stairs you’ll see another bathroom in the center and two divided areas in a loft. To the right in one room we have full bunk beds which sleeps four, and on the left side in the other room of the loft is a queen bed with a closet. We have this listed as 3 bedrooms as we do consider these rooms but we want to let our guest know the two upstairs is one huge open loft which is broke up into two areas with beds as you can tell in the pictures. There is a balcony upstairs also with fantastic views of mountains and beautiful scenery! We also provide a queen size air mattress.
Our backyard is absolutely breathtaking! We have a tiki bar which gives Vacation Vibes! In this unbelievable bar area we have 6 barstools, a barbecue grill, sink, a burner, along with plenty of bar space left over for entertainment. We have a new hot tub with a waterfall and lights. When the day cools down it’s so nice to relax in there and enjoy the Mountain Views!
We have an enjoyable putting green area and provide golf putters and golf balls, so much fun!
The pool is one of our best entertainment features. The pool has an amazing waterfall which hovers above the deep end and an area to even sit behind the waterfall! We also have an engaging area to sit along the front side of the pool in the shallow end if guest would like to just take a minute and sip on a drink, socialize, or relax in the pool. The pool also changes colors at night. Please note to turn the waterfall off and lights off when done using the pool as we will send you instructions on how to do that the day of arrival.
Also, we do not have a fence around the pool, so please watch your kids for their safety .
Enjoy the rest of your evening or night with a bonfire as we also have an amazing bonfire area set up! Our backyard also has incredible night lights that light up our place with playful colors around the tiki bar and along the fence!
We have multiple seating areas in our backyard to relax! The tiki bar has barstools, there are chairs around the fire pit, and chairs under our tiki umbrella. Lastly, we have a comfortable vibrant patio lounging area on the side of the house in its own private area with games!
We provide the game cornhole for outdoor entertainment also which may be suited better on the larger grass area in our backyard.
We have extraordinary mountain views! Our backyard opens up into the mountains and hiking trails that go through Mission Trails Nature Preserve. This is very peaceful as you can hear all the wonderful nature sounds and even see some wildlife at times. We do have a brick wall which borders this preserve and there is about a 5 foot drop into it.
This backyard has so many incredible characteristics going for it! You won’t want to miss out!
** The pool can be Heated**but we do charge an extra fee to heat it since natural gas is so expensive. The extra fee is $100 the first night to heat and $65 per day every day after. The fee may be lower during the summer, still to determine a price for that since the heater was installed recently. Please let us know how many nights you’d like it heated
Our neighborhood is a quiet area surrounded by mountains! Beautiful scenic views!
We have a park very close by called Big Rock Park. There is plenty to do at this park such as Pickleball, sand volleyball, basketball, and overall a wonderful park for kids! We provide two pickleball sets, a basketball, and a volleyball for guest to use for the park!
There are two ways to get there. One: When walking out the front door of our house take a right on our street (Big Rock Road) and walk down a few blocks until you see a street called Arlette (crossroads are Big Rock Rd and Arlette) and turn right on that street, as soon as you start walking a little ways you'll see the park on the right. Second way to get there is taking a trail from our street. When walking out of the front door of our home you'll take a right on our street and walk down maybe two blocks, there is a stop sign and you'll see the trail to the right side. To make it easy the cross streets are Big Rock Road and Rancho Fanita. We provided a picture of this in the listing so you can see where the trail starts and how it looks.
To get to the hiking trails to hike Cowles Mountain or Mesa trail to Lake Murray,: the secret trailhead (which mainly locals know about) starts at the end of our street called Big Rock Trail, just a few houses down. If you are walking out our front door you will take a left and walk to the end of our road. This trail is on our street (Big Rock Rd) . We included pictures in the listing of how this area looks so it stands out a little better to our guest. The hike to Cowles Mt. from our place is 2.12 Miles up, so including there and back would be a total of 4.24 miles.
This trail will lead you to two different trails / hikes to take… about 0.75 miles up Big Rock Trail you’ll see where it splits to either go to Cowles Mountain or Mesa trail to Lake Murray. Cowles Mountain is the most popular as it’s the Tallest Mountain in San Diego and our favorite! To get to Cowles you’ll stay on Big Rock Trail. We like switching it up between the two, both great hikes! From Cowles Mountain you can see everything in San Diego! Views of Downtown and the Pacific Ocean, plus so much more!
Our place is 20-25 minutes from everything San Diego has to offer, such a the Zoo, SeaWorld, most San Diego beaches, downtown, and plenty more!
Mission Trails Park is only a 5 minute drive which also offers hiking and beautiful scenic views.
The town we live in called Santee has lots of stores, restaurants, and grocery stores which are only 5 minutes away such Costco, Vons, Sprouts, Walmart, Khols, TJ-Maxx, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and I could go on with plenty of others!
Another great spot to visit and see in Santee is called Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve!
If you’re looking for a fun sports bar with amazing food I would highly recommend Junction 52 Bar &Grill which is 9 minutes from us!
If you’re craving ice cream we have an amazing place for you! which is only 5 minutes away called Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream.
There is so much to do in this area and I can go on all day!
