Summary: We quite enjoyed our stay at Donato's flat in Salerno. It's located right on the edge of the historic district, an easy walk to everything. The sea walk is close by, as are the cathedral and Minerva's Garden. There are many many restaurants nearby. Communication with Donato and his son, Roberto, was excellent. Roberto met us at the train station and took us directly to the flat. Now, there are some 76 stairs--we counted--to get to the fourth floor, and no elevator. It was no issue for us--part of the adventure!--but it could be for others. I got a kick out of the winding stairs and archways. Fun! The flat is quite quiet considering the very urban location. I'm noise-phobic and had no issues. We both slept very well. We had a great stay in Salerno, and quite happily recommend Donato's place as a home base.
