A hidden gem in the Tuscan rolling countryside, raised 580 metres above sea level. Rio Maggiore an apartment of 60 sqm is part of Villa Meletro, also known as "Il borgo della pace" with its fantastic panoramic terrace, woodlands and enviable position, resides near the small medieval village of Rivalto. With stunning views down the Valdera valley, the prominent location of the villa has maintained a sense of timelessness, peace and tranquillity. It is an oasis of calmness and harmony in which to indulge yourself and relax, but yet it is only 40 minutes’ drive from Pisa airport. . The villa is surrounded by fertile soil that produces a range of superior vegetables, fruits and wine. The nearby fields are host to vineyards, olive groves, fruit trees and cereals, whilst the wooded hills are home to the famous ‘Rivalto’ Chestnut along with a rich selection of flora and fauna.
The private patio adjoining the apartment comes complete with a BBQ, tables and chairs and an umbrella. A large wood burning pizza oven is close to the villa.Guests can enjoy the sun terrace and swimming pool as well as the sauna.
The name of the apartment is inspired by one of the tributaries of the Cascina River, which defines the territory of Rivalto, snaking through the woods and creating striking picturesque views. Boasting 60 square meters of space, with two bedrooms and two well appointed bathrooms, it is an ideal space for two people or a family to share. One bedroom has a large comfortable queen size bed whilst the other has two single beds. The apartment is on the ground floor, having a private seating area outside for you to enjoy. On entering the apartment, you walk into a typical Tuscan interior with a large sitting/dining area with a fully equipped kitchen. The lounge area has a large comfortable sofa on which to relax and watch TV, read, chat with friends or just soak up the traditional atmosphere of peace and quiet this lovely apartment affords you. The sofa can be made into a large sofa bed. Being located on the ground floor the apartment is ideal for people who may have mobility problems and find climbing stairs difficult.
Rivalto is a pretty medieval village in the Tuscan hills. Chianni is 3 Km away and has a wide variety of shops, cafes and the services of a bank and a post office and is the nearest place that has an ATM machine. The villa is situated close to many famous Tuscan landmarks.The città d’arte include Volterra, San Gimignano, Palaia and Florence making this a perfect base to explore the whole of Tuscany. Distances: Pontedera (mainline train station) 20 km, Volterra 35 km, Pisa (airport) 40 km, Lucca 50 km, Florence 80 km, Siena 80 km.
