Old gofio mill in Hermigua Valley, La Gomera, Canary Islands. The Finca Molino Viejo owes its name to the old gofio mill in its interior. It is a hundred-year-old water mill, a family relic from the past, which was saved and restored by Alcides Izquierdo and Angelita García and has become an original and unique tourist accommodation on the island of La Gomera.It is located in the middle of a farm that produces fruit trees: mangos, oranges, bananas and has a beautiful view of the Teide. The old water mills on La Gomera disappeared one by one from the middle of the 20th century onwards, as the amount of water that flowed through the gorges decreased. These mills are really made of rubber, from the stones to the last pieces. They usually belong to several owners who grind them on the days assigned to them, and private individuals can also grind them by paying a certain amount in cash or grain. In the latter case, a measure of wood is used, called maquila, and the operation carried out is called maquilar.It is an open space where on one side there is the bedroom with two single beds and a living room with a sofa bed for a third person.
