Positive: Overall, the hotel is pretty great and the owners are lovely. It's very quiet, the rooms are nice and the beds firm. The owners cook their own meals at the restaurant, it takes some time but it's very tasty. For the money you pay (which is half the price of most villas in the vicinity) it's a steal. Right on the beach, close to the main road and a bunch of places to eat. The pool is large, bigger than most tiny hotel pools, and is cleaned regularly. Rooms are also cleaned a few times a week. There are howler monkeys living in the trees right next to the hotel.
Negative: One thing needs to be made clearer in the description: the hotel doesn't have hot water. It's a little warm from the sun, but it's nowhere near hot. The temperature outside is 33C degrees most days, so it's not like you want a hot shower but it's hard to get grime and sand out without hot water. Also, out of all the pillows in the room, only one was in decent shape. None of this was a deal-breaker for me, esp for the price, so I was comfortable.
