Positive: An an easy 10 minutę walk from the station, don't let the building's 1960's exterior deceive you, the dinner was superb, way beyond expectations, served in your room, fresh, local ingredients, grilled fish and grilled Hida beef, sautéed local mushrooms with a 'mentaiko' sauce, fresh sashimi, another white fish sautéed in a French butter/'wa-fu' sauce, plus more imaginative concoctions in the kitchen that were excellent with two local sakes we ordered, the wonderfully dry 'Horai' and an exceptionally creamy 'nigorizake'. We savored our meal slowly over two hours and finished it with green tea and a walk to the onsen bath. Did I mention the new tatami mats in the room? What's not to like? You can pay for more luxury, but this was excellent value for money. Note that you will be sitting on the tatami while you eat, which may bother some people. The breakfast was also delicious, Japanese style, grilled local anago river fish, yudofu simmered in onsen water, Yama-imo and raw egg, dashimaki tamago, local sautéed mushrooms, tsukemono, miso soup, rice...mmmm.
Negative: Nothing to complain about.
Summary: I would like to go back again, would highly recommend this place to friends.
