NOT A PARTY CABIN!
We are very proud of the LAZY BEAR LODGE... it is a relative youngster compared to so many century old cabins in town. If tentative guests are used to central air conditioning and very strong water pressure, we may not be a good fit. However, for those looking for mountain charm, I am sure we would be perfect. We welcome respectful guests, but we are NOT a "party" cabin. This is a very quiet neighborhood with our block neighborhood watch captain right next door...we only want respectful guests. We have surveillance cameras around the perimeter of the cabin for your safety and our peace of mind. Pets with approval only and $50 (up to two pets). NO-SMOKING...NOT ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY
We have a full deck around the front and back of the lodge. We have a charcoal Weber barbecue and tools, however, we do not supply the charcoal or lighter fluid. The steps up to the cabin are steeper than normal. The main level of the cabin in on the second floor; the garage and storage room are not for our guests' access.
My twice daily dog walks pass the cabin, so I look forward to possibly meeting you! Respectful guests have nothing to worry about, however if you plan on more guests/cars than you booked for or plan on being noisy, please do not book with us.
This is a very quiet neighborhood with lovely neighbors whom we respect. We are a short four block walk to the village and only four miles to Mountain High.
We have parking for 3 vehicles. One parking spot is flat, the other two have a inclined driveway. An RV is parked in the RV spot. It is not do be disturbed (it is unoccupied).
DOWNTOWN: To walk there, just head west on Oriole (towards Elm) and keep walking until you get to Cedar Street. Turn right on Cedar and when you get to Mile High Pizza, turn left You will be in the village! If you keep walking on Apple, you will see the public library, skate park and children’s park just a block away! Or, from the cabin, walk down Elm to HWY 2 and there’s a wonderful trail that runs parallel to the Highway that will take you into town. When you travel up the path on Hwy 2, after the Fire Station you will see the GRIZZLY CAFE (great ambiance and sweet potato fries). THE MERCANTILE is a fabulous shop right next door. ALL of the town’s restaurants have outdoor seating! Cross the street at the Stop sign and you will see the post office and MOUNTAIN HARDWARE (they sell sleds and chains, are dog friendly and are tremendous! A little bit of Mayberry RFD). Continue and you run right into JENSEN’S MARKET (pricey, but well stocked). Cross HWY 2 and you’re in downtown! 1st stop is 6000 ft., a mountaineering gift shop and a must see! Two shops up is the WRIGHTWOOD MINI-MART/GAS STATION (amazing biscuits and gravy to go in the am for less than $2.00 each!!!) Just up from the mini-mart is Sheldon Entertainment Co. with thousands of books/DVD rentals; they even have movie nights on Fri/Sat. Keep going up and you will find CABIN FEVER, another great gift shop. They have a wide variety of wines (even Chocolate wine!) as well as mountainy gifts. Across the street is the BLUE RIDGE INN (fabulous prime rib and pumpkin bread). APPLEWOOD COURT has an ice cream parlor/homemade fudge and candy shop; they also have a darling gift shop and Christmas shop. On Park Drive there are several more restaurants. The EVERGREEN has great breakfasts; the YODELER has outdoor seating and good food and drink as well as billiards, MEXICO LINDO has reasonably priced and delicious Mexican food and nickel margaritas on Tuesdays (w/purchase of entree). The VILLAGE GRIND is a coffee shop/sandwich and wine store that offers WIFI 24/7 and live music on weekends and has amazing home made soups. At the top of Park and Apple is a new BREWERY that also serves great sandwiches. Turn left on Apple at the top of the street and you’ll see MILE HIGH PIZZA, fabulous food and service. They deliver, too. Ask for their $3.00 counter coupon on a large pizza (the chicken Alfredo pizza and antipasto salad with the house bleu cheese dressing is our favorite!).

Trash and recycling roll outs are in front of lodge. Additional can for CRV containers. Pick up Tuesday morning (put to curb on Monday night)
COFFEE: Traditional coffee maker, we provide filters and coffee
BATHROOMS: Only flush #1, #2 and toilet paper…we are on a septic system. Plumbers’ fees will be incurred if you plug up the toilet with anything else. BE CONSERVATIVE WITH TOILET PAPER...TOO MUCH WILL PLUG THE TOILET
FIRE PIT: if it runs out of propane, please let me know ASAP and we will have another delivered!
BBQ: charcoal grill, please clean after use. We supply grill and tools, you supply charcoal and lighter fluid
