Summary: I hate to post a bad review but having given the owners and agent the opportunity to respond to my concerns neither have taken any responsibility for the gravity of the issues. The carpets were significantly degraded in extensive areas due to moth larvae. The most affected was the back bedroom where we found moths flying and larvae crawling across the bedding on several occasions. I woke in the night and found one crawling across the sheet very close to my face - an awful and avoidable experience. We have been advised that the owners did not know about the moths yet they were replacing the carpet the week after our stay. The property information states that a smoke alarm and CO detector are fitted. We found that the CO detector had only 2 of 3 batteries fitted so is never going to work. The smoke alarm on the first floor had been removed completely. We did not see any other smoke alarms. There was a smell of mould and damp, particularly in the basement toilet and lounge area, also at times in the kitchen/dining area. This had affected the soft furnishings and made it unpleasant to sit in these areas. There was only enough hot water for 3 showers, which is not enough when the property is advertised as suitable for 5 people. Kitchen was well stocked but not enough cutlery for 5 people. Plates, cutlery, glasses were grimy and needed to be washed before use. No toilet brushes. This is very unpleasant, especially when sharing a house with others.
