Make yourself at home at Casa Azul Rio, where you will stay in a spectacular luxurious two bedroom nestled on a lush tropical property with incredible mountain and river views! Relax on your private deck and listen to native birds, the soothing sounds of flowing river water and swim in our beautiful salt water pool while enjoying flowering hibiscus and birds of paradise. Our veranda includes a comfortable lounge area where guests can lay back and relax with calming views of palm trees and swaying, sunlit bamboo leaves. Our tranquil setting is secure, private and caters to a sophisticated traveler who wishes to be off the grid, yet minutes from the grid should adventure and world class beaches attract you. You can even take a short walk from the property to a nearby waterfall!

Ojochal is a unique village in South Puntarenas. It is perfectly situated on the coast with plenty of beaches. Our rich culture allows you to mix with our locals including many global ex-patriots who have opened restaurants and bakeries nearby. Culinary selections are outstanding with a variety of international foods and flavors to match. It’s no wonder Ojochal is considered the culinary capital of Costa Rica! Local foodie destinations such as Pancito Cafe, La Mona Grita, Fusion, Castillo’s Kitchen, Diquis Del Sur, and Exotica offer up pleasing, fresh fare to cater to any palate!

A vacation at Casa Azul Rio means staying in style a short drive from several beaches of white and golden sand, many of which are relatively unvisited!
Playa Tortuga is a top destination for those who want to get off the beaten path and experience daily life in Costa Rica and it’s just seven minutes down the road from Casa Azul Rio. It’s an especially awesome location for travelers who love to enjoy beautiful scenery and wildlife. It is called ‘Tortuga’ because of its turtle population and has a Turtle Rescue Center where you can volunteer to monitor either turtles or monkeys along the beach.
Looking to explore sea caves? Head to Playa Ventantas. It is a fantastic beach with plenty of caverns, coastal reefs for snorkeling, and surfing opportunities and it’s just eleven minutes up the road.
There is one thing Playa Dominical is renowned for beyond whatever else beaches are good for and that is, surfing! In fact, it’s a world-renowned surfing hotspot! And it’s only a half-hour away! With waves known to swell up to 10-feet tall, many kayaking and surfing companies have set up shop there, and it's common for surfers from around the globe to camp out on this beach to be right next to this choice surf.
Marino Ballena National Beach has wonderful spots for snorkeling and beach-combing during low tide.
There are also several waterfalls to explore! Cataracts Uvita is fifteen minutes away and gorgeous Cascada el Pavon 16 minutes away! The famous Nauyaca Waterfalls a 44-minute drive from the property!
Bara Reserve holds waterfall tours and nature walks and is 35-minutes away.
Terraba Sierpe National Wetlands and Corcovado National Park is a park teeming with wild animals such as iguanas, turtles, scarlet macaws, sloths, squirrel monkeys, tapirs, caimans, coatimundi, crocodiles and jaguars.
