On the Water, in the Woods, a Red Cedar Log Cabin | House in Bowen Island

4 Bedroom House in Bowen Island
Set on a wooded waterfront, southeast facing acre lot, Foxglove, is a recently built, architecturally designed, red cedar log cabin and guest house with an infinity pool and hot tub. It is host to a gourmet kitchen, expansive decks overlooking Dorman Bay and an outdoor fire table. It is conveniently located, about 5 minutes by car to the quaint main town “Snug Cove” and its shops, restaurants, pubs and the ferry to the mainland. It is also a 10-minute walk to our local beach, September Morn.
Our waterfront home is on Hummingbird Lane, Bowen Island. Bowen is one of British Columbia’s Gulf Islands and is situated just 20 minutes by ferry to the mainland (West Vancouver.) The home is situated on a wooded acre lot facing southeast. While the property has been in the family for 75+ years, the main home has just (2012) been rebuilt. There are two other structures on the property: two guest houses, one that our caretaker lives in and one that is included in the property.
The cabin has all the services and amenities one might expect. We have Internet, TV (Netflix and Prime), WIFI, city water & power, a propane gas service which provides propane for the pool, hot tub, kitchen cooktop, our barbecue, and the fire table.
The kitchen is to die for: two dishwashers, three ovens, microwave, a professional gas cooktop, double fridge/freezer, and a Miele automatic coffee/espresso maker. There is a high definition 70” flat screen TV, and a wood-burning fireplace.
For outdoor living at its best, the cabin is host to expansive decks that surround the infinity pool and hot tub and look out to Dorman Bay, a fire table and chairs, and outdoor patio furniture. The decking and infinity pool (facing the water) is fenced to keep the deer from eating our flowers. If the power goes off we have a generator that automatically powers the essentials until it's restored. The last time we had an outage was over 3 years ago.
The cabin has three bedrooms and three bathrooms – two with showers. We have a washer/dryer and a robot that cleans the tile floors – really! The home is completely tiled and we have in-floor hot water ambient heating and a wood burning fireplace that will heat the home if needed. The Guest House is one large room with bunk beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a small kitchen area, and in front, a large outdoor deck area.
*Depending on the time of year, heating the pool and hot tub is not always included in the nightly price.
