Summary: The apartment is extremely liveable, only a balcony could improve it. The view of the estuary is only partial (high rise buildings also) but still very welcome. The Park da Nações area is a modern high rise development (offices, hotels, apartments, health clubs etc) but manages to retain a bit of community feel. The biggest local attraction is Lisbon Aquarium, one of the best in the world. This is not the old Lisbon of colourful tiled buildings (those are half an hour away by taxi or rather more by walk, metro & walk). So, this location might be better suited to somebody like me who already knows Lisbon well, rather than a first time visitor. That said, if you are prepared to do the travelling every day, this would still be a good base, without the street noise & noise from neighbours that is often a feature of apartments in the old town, charming as they are. I was working some days and on vacation for others, so a modern apartment suited me well. I was also travelling to & from Porto on the high speed trains, so being within easy walking distance of Oriente station was also a plus … although you do have to pull wheeled luggage over cobbled pavements; even the new areas of Lisbon seem to have those!
