Welcome to our Serenity Stays!
Our family enjoys traveling and hosting international students. We have 4 adult children, 3 that live in San Diego and 1 that lives in Arizona. We also have 6 grandchildren that live 3 blocks away.
Shawn is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Nicole is a Registered Nurse and both of us work from home.
We love interacting with our homestay guests. If you are here to learn English, great! We watch TV with subtitles. Please join us.
Our 5-bedroom 3-bath spacious home was recently remodeled, so all the flooring is new, the kitchen is upgraded, the back patio has a fire pit and covered area. Our dining room table seats 8 and we love to host special events. Our family loves to play games, celebrate special events and be the gathering place for the family.
We provide light breakfast foods, and you are responsible for your own lunch, dinner, and snacks. Nicole makes delicious banana bread and chocolate chips cookies to share. We have an extra refrigerator in the garage that you will share with other homestay guests, and our kitchen is always available for you to cook for yourself (or for us - LOL).
We have a lovely backyard garden patio where we eat meals and relax when the weather is warm. We also have garden box and Nicole is always looking for a gardening buddy. You will find our home quiet and peaceful, yet full of energy with friends and family who like to visit.
There is a gym just 2 miles away that costs about $25 per month - Crunch Gym - plus a popular running path near our house and multiple Golf Courses.
The public bus is a 10-minute walk, and the bus takes you to the trolley and into Downtown San Diego (center city), Old Towne, Mission Valley, East County, and now La Jolla.
There is a reason San Diego is called America's Finest City, and showing off this fine city is something we do with our homestay guests. Hiking is one of our favorite things to do in and around San Diego. You can join us anytime for a hike or a walk around our beautiful safe neighborhood.
We have 3 small dogs (Yorkies), but do not accept any homestay guests with pets, even though we know they are part of your family.

We have completed a background check and have a "clear status" from the Government Watch List search, the DOJ search, and the CA-San Diego County criminal search.
We get many requests to stay in our home. If you book a few months in advance, we might ask you for a $300 non-refundable deposit to hold the room. When you show up for your scheduled homestay, we take that amount off of your rent.
