Roukounakis House has just been renovated with great care and converted into a vacation house with modern amenities. This property used to be a storage room for food supplies underneath the main part of the house. That’s why it has thick stone walls that keep the place cool even during the hottest summer days. During the renovation all the old wooden beams of the ceiling have been carefully restored and some traditional architectonical elements have been preserved too.
The house comes with a spacious open plan room that includes the living room, the kitchen and the dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances and cooking utensils our guests may need for a self catered vacation. A washing machine and an iron with ironing board are also available for our guests’ comfort.
With a double bed in the bedroom and a comfortable sofa bed in the living room, this property can accommodate up to 4 people.
At the front of the property there is a small yard full of flowers where you can seat under a shaded area, relax and enjoy your meals. Furthermore there is a portable barbeque available in the yard.
Lampini is a small picturesque village located 25km away from Rethymno town. The village is the ideal base for exploring the Cretan nature and the magnificent beaches of the south coast of Crete. If you are interested in hiking you can try walking through Kourtaliotiko and Kotsifou gorges or at the E4 European trail which starts from the village Spili , just 4km away from Lampini. We also recommend you to visit Preveli Palm beach, Triopetra beach and Ligres. In the spring time it is very interesting to visit Gious Kampos Plateau(9km away) where the red tulip of Crete, Tulipa doerfleri, grows exclusively at an altitude ranging from 700-800m.
In Lampini village you can also visit the Byzantine church of Panagia (Virgin Mary). In this church there is a unique fresco of Virgin Mary with the inscription «The Lampini».
There are four traditional cafes in the village which also serve food. At the nearby village Mixorouma( 1,5km away) you can find a bakery and a tavern while at village Spili(4km away) there are many more cafes and restaurants, supermarkets, ATMs, shops and postal services.
