Positive: The cabin is located in a very beautiful natural area. It’s very close to the seaside – just a few hundred meters through a lovely forest path. The wild beaches are not crowded. The shoreline is shallow, so it’s very safe for pets and children to splash around, and also great for people like me who rarely go swimming :) Since it’s a bay, you can’t see the sunset over the sea, but you can enjoy watching the sunrises instead. This is quite rare and unique on the Baltic Sea. There are smaller towns nearby where you can do basic shopping, and just 20 km away is a bigger town, Tukums, where you can also find some places to visit. So the location is very convenient. The cabin itself is nice and tidy, newly and tastefully furnished, and cozy. The yard is spacious enough and nicely maintained.
Negative: In the photos, the cabin looks secluded and surrounded by a fenced area. Unfortunately, this is not the case in reality. The cabin is located in a residential area, surrounded by neighbors on all sides. The large front windows face directly toward the neighbors opposite, so there is very little privacy unless you keep the curtains closed all the time. We chose this cabin because it seemed remote and had a fenced yard, which was important as we were traveling with a dog. But the yard was not fully fenced – only three sides were, and the side facing the neighbors was open. So we couldn’t let the dog run freely outside. Inside the cabin, there was an unpleasant smell from the bathroom drains, and the tap water also had an unpleasant taste and smell. There were also a few minor household issues. There were not enough dishes – since there is a dishwasher, you don’t want to run it half-empty, but if you fill it up, there aren’t enough dishes left to use. There were no blankets to snuggle up with while watching TV on the sofa. There was no vacuum cleaner either, which would have been useful as we stayed almost a week and brought in sand from the beach – the broom wasn’t very helpful. We also missed the chance to have a fire outside. There was a grill, but it wasn’t allowed to make an open fire in it. It would have been really nice to have that option while spending evenings outdoors.
