Positive: The host (Thierry) was exceptionally friendly and helpful and was waiting for me when I arrived. Communication was easy and he responded to any message I sent, more or less instantly. The apartment was fantastic, chic-ly decorated and the terrace exceptional. The kitchen was great, and really well fitted out. I felt instantly at home. Bathroom worked really well and was great having a separate wc. AC was efficient and easy to operate. Ave de la Republic is not the prettiest street but being car-free (only trams) is pretty quiet especially at night. It was only a 10 min walk from everything and has plenty of shops for day to day needs - there's a small, well-stocked supermarket a couple of doors down and a great boulanger a couple of doors down from that. There's a large supermarket a short walk around the corner so that made up for it not being the most attractive area. I took a taxi from the airport but took the tram back from almost outside the apartment and with one change at Jean Medecin, was really easy (once I'd found the second part of the Jean Medecin tram station - to the airport - which is underground!).
Negative: It's hard to find anything wrong with the apartment. Perhaps some slightly more comfortable armchairs in the main room (it's super stylish but doesn't have 'conventional' armchairs). There's an adjoining small tv room with a sofa bed which was fine though. The bed in the main bedroom could be a bit bigger too (although it wouldn't fit) but was very comfortable - if you were two larger people, you might notice this.
Summary: Fantastic host and apartment. I would definitely recommend both :-)
