Sunrise Ranch Sonoita-Mountain Views and Wineries | House in Sonoita

2 Bedroom House in Sonoita
Built in 1984 by renowned modernist architect William Cook, this house was his first of many residential projects after "retiring" to his beloved Sonoita. With an inherent sense of balance, form and light, the house sits perched atop a hill overlooking the high grasslands of the Santa Rita foothills. Brick floors anchor the 15-foot ceilings, and walls of windows bring the beauty of the outdoors in. Fully renovated in 2018, Sunrise Ranch is perfect for your peaceful getaway. Horses are welcome in the barn.
Two bedrooms on opposite ends of the house afford visitors excellent privacy. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom. Large windows in almost every room look over the rolling hills of the high desert grasslands. Vaulted 15-foot ceilings in the living and dining space lead up to a unique 6-foot pyramid shaped skylight. The kitchen has been completely modernized with new countertops and appliances. Mature apple and young apricot and peach trees are in the front garden - if there is fruit, please feel free to pick and eat! The courtyard garden is a lush and lovely oasis with lots of drought tolerant, butterfly and hummingbird friendly plants.
This is the perfect place for a quiet getaway - no loud parties please! While rural, we do have neighbors, so please keep noise to a minimum and do not walk on other properties.
Long walks in the grasslands on dirt roads looking for birds is a great way to spend your time in Sonoita. Make sure you wear sturdy boots and long pants! Mountain biking can be had right out the front door. Santa Rita Ranch Road continues past the Vera Earl Ranch feedlot into National Forest, and there is even access to the Arizona Trail not too far away. The crossroads of highways 82 & 83 are one mile down the road, where you can find a bank, post office, cafes, restaurants, a general store, ice cream, coffee, the Copper Brothel Brewery and Dos Cabezas Wineworks. And don’t miss a visit to the Empire Ranch just up the road, where movies such as the original “3:10 to Yuma” and many episodes of “Bonanza”, as well as many other movies and television shows have been filmed over the years.
We are use a bleach-based disinfectant to clean the kitchen, bathrooms, and all frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, TV remote, etc). The property is professionally cleaned before each visit, and is vacant for a minimum of 24 hours prior to guest arrival.
