Magnolia House is the perfect family-friendly getaway. The cottage is two stories, and the second-floor view is sublime. There are two complete suites on both levels. Both bathrooms are luxurious, with clawfoot tubs and separate showers. On the bottom floor, the main bedroom is enormous with a gorgeous full bathroom with an old-fashioned clawfoot tub. The master has a private side deck.
Steps: There are steps without carpeting and this property is not recommended for children under two years old.
Our Store & Greenhouse
We have a farm store across the street and have fresh seasonal vegetables, meats, eggs and ice. We also have a large green house with plants, flowers and bushes year round.
We are a fully functioning cattle farm raising 100% grass-fed beef, pork, and Free-Range Chicken Eggs. Our meats and eggs are available upon request and will be in your cottage upon arrival. See our website for options and send us a quick message to make arrangements.

Farm Walks
We have over a mile and a half of graveled walking trails on our farm. You will have access to the entire farm for walking during your stay. We have two beautiful ponds and plenty of nature amidst the rolling hills. Also, there are pigs, horses, chickens, and cows on-site, and you will see them while walking.
Biking
If you bring a bike, you can take an easy ride to the river along a sleepy country road. In addition, you are welcome to ride your bike on our trails.
Cleanliness
We keep the cottage exceptionally clean. The cottage is on a private lot, which gives you 100% privacy during your stay. The laundry/mudroom is large and extended stays come in handy.
Pets
Sorry, this cottage does not allow pets. Our pet-friendly cottage is the Sunflower. If you have a pet - please see this listing. These cottages are not fenced. It is a matter of safety for our guests.
Other Lodging on Site
The cottage has one other cottage on-site - Rose Cottage- next door and will likely be used during your stay. Your cottage is completely separate and private and has its own driveway behind the cottage. Two other small buildings (retreat buildings) are near the cottage but are not being used during your stay.
Please park behind Magnolia in spaces behind cottage. There is a driveway that is marked by a sign that says Magnolia House. Use this drive to access parking behind your cottage. There is a walkway that will lead you to the front door.
Our neighborhood is on a quiet road near other farms. The cottage is located on a sleepy country road that you can ride a bike on safely. We are minutes from the James River. The area is rural and you can see Massanutten Mountain in the distance.
Scottsville and Lake Monticello are both twenty minutes away with restaurants and shopping.
You will need a car to drive to local restaurants in Scottsville, Lake Monticello, or Charlottesville, Virginia. Uber is available as well as private driving companies for winery tours.
You can walk around the farm on our gravel roads and paths and enjoy the many farm animals living on the property. We provide a map for your excursions. The farm has approximately 1.5 miles of graveled walking paths. There are plenty of sites to include our cows, horses, chickens, and pigs. We also have two ponds on the property.
Scottsville - a little river town nearby - is very friendly with local restaurants, river tubing, and kayaking. Walk to the lake, hiking trails, the river, museum, brewery, tavern, and restaurants. It's about 20 miles from Yogaville in Buckingham and UVA in Charlottesville and only a short drive to several wineries in the area.
We do not allow guests to have parties or gatherings at the cottage. We understand that you may be coming for a wedding in the area, but we cannot host your pre- or post-wedding party. However, guests staying at the cottage are allowed on the property and can use our many trails and ponds. I appreciate your cooperation.
