In the heart of downtown Breaux Bridge, the Old Opera House is one of the town's most historic building.
The upstairs, which once served as a dancehall, is now a giant and very unique loft-like apartment featuring an 1800 square living/recreation area, as well as a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. The downstairs, which was once an old-fashioned dry goods store, is now a large three bedroom apartment.
Each floor has its own kitchen, and there are multiple daybeds, trundles, and a futon. It's a great place to bring a family, or even to bring in the cousins for a family reunion or a wedding.
The upstairs porch overlooks downtown Breaux Bridge, and you will be just steps away from restaurants, antique shops, live music, the Bayou Têche, a kayak dock, and the historic bridge from which the town takes its name.
There is a large, private side yard with parking for 3 cars (4 if you push it) and a patio.
A truly unique and cool place that puts you right in the heart of this charming little bayou-side town.
DISCLAIMER: The Old Opera House is in very good condition and is kept very clean. It is also a very old house built in the 1890s, with all the imperfections and crooked angles of an old structure. It was renovated in 2008, but is not a modern home, and that's its charm. It is also not wheelchair accessible.

Summary: The history of this property is unique. The upstairs balcony is an amazing place to sit and have your morning coffee. Convenient location to grocery stores, gas stations and downtown shopping. The property owner went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. My daughters bridal party gathered here to do hair and makeup for her wedding. The large open space upstairs was perfect. Josh moved a large mirror upstairs for the girls to use. I definitely recommend this property.
