Wake up to a beautiful view that overlooks Lake of Egypt and the tranquil wildlife on the deck in the morning while drinking your coffee. Take a stroll down to the private boat dock to fish or just sit in the lounge chairs and watch the sunset while drinking a glass of wine.
"The Rock" guest lodging provides you with 2bedroom/1bathroom private basement lodging of our home, (We live in the upper level of the home). Sleeping accommodations include : 1 queen size bedroom, 2 twin beds bedroom, and large sectional couch in spacious living room. All bedrooms have their own private 32" LED television for personal viewing. Living accommodations include a large living room with a 55" LED television. The dining area has a large table that comfortable seats 6 people. Even though the accommodations do not provide a full kitchen, there are many conveniences for food preparations; which include, microwave/toaster oven, refrigerator, and toaster. Also, Included in your stay each morning is a variety of complimentary coffees in the Keurig coffee maker. While staying with us, there is no need to buy ice for your coolers. There is a commercial grade pellet ice machine for your use. We hope that you find all of these conveniences welcoming in your stay at "The Rock" lake retreat.
"The Rock" lake retreat is perfect for any type of vacation, hiking adventure, fishing trip, or hunting experience. It is just 2 mile off I-57. Great location for easy access to the 280,000 acre Shawnee National Forest public hunting and Crab Orchard Nation Wildlife Refuge. We are a quick, easy access to the Marion/Carbondale area. Private dock for no extra cost to our guest. There are electrical hookups at the boat dock for boat charging purposes along with a fish cleaning area. "The Rock" area has an outdoor security system for your protection and safety.
Things to do in the area: Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, Shawnee National Forest, Giant City State Park, and Tunnel Hill Bike Trail.
Nearby towns include: Cobden, Goreville, Anna, Jonesboro, Alto Pass, Makanda, Dongola, Carbondale, Marion, Vienna, Carterville, Herrin, and Murphysboro.

Summary: Easy to book, and everything matched in person I originally booked to accommodate 2 other travelers and ended up going alone. I felt safe as a female traveler. Check in was easy. Bryanna helped me immediately upon arrival with suggestions on where to eat, how to find location, and make sure I was comfortable. I booked to attend for a local race and since I was alone it was extra nice for her to check in on me to make sure I made it safely back. I would book for summer vacation spot because they have great amenities for boating, swimming, fishing and relaxing stay. Thank you for welcoming me as a guest.
