2 Bedroom Cottage in Chillington, East Allington

The Stables is part of a former farm, now tastefully converted into a 2 bedroom property with open plan living, dining and kitchen space. The downstairs space is light filled and open plan, with tan leather sofas, a large TV and wifi, but retaining many original features with the added benefit of a lovely wood burner. From the lounge you can step outside to the sunny courtyard. The kitchen/ diner is very large and well equipped, with a large American style fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and coffee machine. You will also find the beautifully finished shower/ wetroom downstairs with toilet. Upstairs you will find the master bedroom with chunky oak superking sleigh bed, and a twin room which has an additional trundle bed meaning this room is large enough to sleep 3 adults. Alternatively, we can set this bedroom as a superking plus single or just a superking room. There is a further family bathroom upstairs with a sunken bath plus a separate shower. Being tastefully converted, the property retains many features, and is just a great combined space for families or friends to meet and have a great holiday. Outside the property benefits from a courtyard with table and chairs, plus you also get to enjoy the benefits of the shared areas for the residents and the guests of Fallapit. These areas include a tennis court, tree house, climbing frame, swing & even a fire pit for those evenings when you can sit outside with a glass of wine under the stars! The property is within easy walking distance to the nearby village of East Allington, where you will find the fabulous Fortescue Arms pub, which offers a traditional Devonshire pub experience, where we highly recommend the Sunday roast, as well as sampling some of their amazing gins!! You're located a few miles from the nearest town of Kingsbridge, approximately 20 minutes from Salcombe and Dartmouth, and the nearest beaches are also reachable by car in about 20 minutes. We welcome up to 2 doggies.

Summary: We were looking for a charming property off the beaten track and the stables certainly didn't disappoint. The carrot cake, lemonade and local cider were a lovely gesture and went down extremely well, so thank you. The property was perfect for my family which consist of the 3 of us. Though it easily accommodates for up to 6 (we had friends stay) and it still felt like you could swing a cat without breaking any thing! The masterbedroom felt like a king/queens chambers with a bed so comfortable that I could have easily of stayed in bed all day. The blind was broken and we were updated of this prior to arrival but a little annoying as it would have been nice to have some natural light during the day! The secondary bedroom was well equipped and comfortable enough. I base that on the fact that our 3 year old son fell asleep there on more than one occasion. The bathroom upstairs accommodates a deep bath tub, perfect for soaking up some bubbles after a long country walk in the surrounding areas. Downstairs bathroom has a huge walk in shower...not to be missed! The lounge has a stunning cast iron fire place and was very much welcomed as the temperature had plummeted on the night we arrived. (Please see suggestions below). The kitchen was fully equipped for everything we needed, though it only had 4 knives, so perhaps worth running an up-to-date check after guests vacate the property. The location was conveniently placed with a ten minute drive to local amenities in the charming town of Kingsbridge and the beach another 20 min away. Overall our stay was excellent and we would highly recommend it to our friends and family and no dounts we'll be back. A few points to Dawn and Quintin. Small details make a difference and we would recommend the following: - Throws/blankets for the leather sofa's would have been a welcomed addition, particularly given the time of year. - Firewood. You have a beautiful fireplace but you didnt have a small stock of logs/kindling. There's a small pallet in the front courtyard, an ideal place to put some. (We left some for the next guess) ; ) We purchased a few wheelbarrows from a local of the residence locally for which we paid a nominal sum of £20! - The outdoor firepit couldn't be used as someone had covered it with 8ft worth of dead brush. It might be worth communicating with neiboughs as we were disappointed not to be able to use this facility. Overall a wonderful stay. Thank you. The Telfords
