3 Bedroom Ski Chalet in Boileau, Namur
Solar powered Chalet family cottage on a quiet lake halfway between Montebello and Mont Tremblant in the Laurentians. This is a great place to relax and de-connect from the city.
This is a “green “ chalet with solar power for the lighting and water and gas powered Fridge, Stove, BBQ and hot water.
Cottage has 3 bedrooms. (1 queen, 1 double and one bedroom with 2 single beds
Great for swimming and boating it has 2 large docks for swimming. The water is deep right off the dock.
Comes with canoe and 2 kayaks, paddle board and pedal boat.
Renters to bring own bedding and towels.
$500 damage/cleaning deposit. Deposit will be returned upon verification of condition of the cottage.
Now to be clear it is a solar powered cottage so, electricity is at a premium. So no TV, or electrical appliances. There is enough power to charge phones and a laptop. You have to be very conservative with your power usage. We never have a problem as we are used to this type of arrangement. You would have to monitor your usage to make sure that you do not consume too much power in the evenings. I can give more detail is you like.
This is the type of place you go to for peace and quiet and to enjoy a nice lake and scenery. During the week it is like you have the lake to yourself. The dock and 2 decks and back porch are facing southwest, so you are getting a lot of sun on those areas.Probably estimating 10 hours per day. I do have an canopy on both the back deck and the lower deck to provide protection from the sun. There is a total of 3 large decks , plus 2 docks to lounge on. The deck behind the cottage has a sun canopy, a dining table and a Gas BBQ.As you can see we are 5 stories up from the water so there are many steps.
There is good cell phone coverage for Bell and Telus. Rogers is not as good.
Note: This is a non-smoking property. Failure to comply will result in penalties.
Note: the last 600 metres of road is a private road. So take extra caution for this section.
Cottage Instructions
To Bring:
Bedding - We have 1 queen, one double and 2 single beds. Pillow cases as well. We don’t have laundry facilities.
Towels - towels for swimming and bathrooms
Drinking Water: The water we have is from the lake so it is good for washing. But for drinking we recommend that you bring or buy your own water.
Dish Towels
Flashlights
Lights: Electricity is at a premium so try to limit the number of lights at a time. There should be plenty of power as long as there are not too many cloudy days in a row.
There are some candles and oil lanterns if you have some very rainy days without too much sunlight.
Smoke Alarm: This is triggered easily: we have a remote on the side of the fridge to turn it off.
Co2 Detector: Open windows if required.
Hot Water: The tank is set at low. if you need more hot water you can turn it up, but it gets pretty hot quickly.
Stove: To light, turn to light and then when it is on turn it down to appropriate setting
Fridge: Monitor the coldness. You should have it at about 2
BBQ: Turn to the direction of flow. Don’t forget to turn gas off at the junction.
Toilet: It is a low flow toilet so be careful. Plunger in the cabinet beside.
There is an outhouse as well.
Dock: ensure that the dock is properly aligned. You may have to adjust the ropes as required.
Deck Box: Keys to the deck box are upstairs in the drawer beside the fridge
Paddle Board: please be careful with the fin especially around the rocks. It is fragile.
Canoe: the paddles are upstairs in the front room
Cell Phones: Bell and Telus have great reception , while Rogers is borderline depending on the type of phone.
Awnings: the downstairs awning should be removed and put into the box at the end of the vacation or if there will be a large storm. The upstairs awning should be checked to ensure that the legs are in the right place and that the awning does not hit the window
Batteries: There are 2 meters for the batteries. one is for the water and the other is for the basically when it reads 12.7 it is full. When it is at 12.0 , that means it is empty.
During the day when you have full sunlight you will be able to charge your cellphones and laptop.
Best practice is to check it in the early evening and if it is 12.7 that means that all is good and use normally. If it is less and you have poor sunlight, be more conservative.
Fireplace: there is some wood available for a fire. When the fireplace is on it gets very hot upstairs.
Shopping/ Groceries: there is a store in Namur about 15 minutes away and a larger one in Chenevillle about 20 minutes away. I recommend Cheneville.
Mont Tremblant/St. Jovite: This is about 40 minutes away. It is worth the visit as there are many good restaurants and activities.
Lac Commandant: Just south of Boileau: about 15 minutes. Nice place to visit
