Charming country retreat located in the beautiful northwest corner of the Litchfield hills in bucolic Roxbury, CT. Roxbury is famous for historic sights and architecture and rural ambience. It has been the home of great figures in art and literature including famed playwright Arthur Miller and his wife Marilyn Monroe, artist and sculptor Alexander Calder and noted author Frank McCourt as well as many other contemporary artists and celebrities who still live there today. Roxbury and the surrounding areas also boast excellent hiking and pristine lakes and rivers, which are perfect for boating and kayaking as well as fine restaurants and taverns, art galleries and cultural events. You can easily spend a lazy day antiquing in nearby Woodbury, or treasure hunting at the famed Elephant's Trunk flea market (the largest in the state), which is only a 15 min drive from the house.

Summary: My husband and I stayed at this charming home for the month of July 2024. The house is beautiful and well suited for additional guests (main floor primary with bath, two separate bedrooms and bath upstairs). The kitchen is bright with a wonderful window seat for enjoying morning coffee. The back wall of windows on the main floor provides a wonderful view of the forest beyond. The highlight of this property, however, are the amazing grounds. Stunning! The extensive landscaping and curated flower beds are so beautiful. We made many wonderful memories on the side patio where we enjoyed most evening meals. The owners are very responsive - no issues with check-in or check-out. Communication was a breeze. Great central location near restaurants, shopping, festivals, galleries, recreation. We hope to return again in the future.
