2 Bedroom House in Vittjarn, Torsby
ED Refnr. 3030745
Our timber-built house stands on a high embankment directly on the banks of the Rottnan, a small, slow-flowing river that rises in Norway. Due to the central location and the proximity to the well-developed road network, it is no problem to drive quickly to Oslo or to explore Värmland via the E16, which passes nearby. all around are vast forests, many small and large lakes and rivers as well as some rushing streams. the well-maintained, so-called grand paths, allow beautiful bike rides through the vast nature. The nearest larger town in the county is Torsby with about four thousand inhabitants and in about 100 kilometres you can reach Karlstad, the capital of Värmland
Our spacious driveway to the house offers space for three cars. The large, well-kept vegetable garden also provides many a head of lettuce and many other vegetables for some guests, if they wish. Dogs and cats, if they are obedient, can move freely here with us and also have free access to the house.
dogs are not to be left alone in the house without supervision and must be taken along.
be taken along.
Our house is fully equipped with everything necessary for daily life. The house is warmed by a wood-fired central heating system on cool days. In the living room there is a fireplace made of fieldstone where you can feel comfortable in the cosy living room by the open fire. A television in the parlour and kitchen keeps you up to date with the latest news. The kitchen is fully equipped with all crockery and utensils, a four-plate electric cooker with oven, microwave, fridge and coffee machine complete the equipment. In the bathroom there is a shower, a toilet and a washbasin, the bedrooms are, the first room with a double bed, a so-called allcove bed and in the second room there is a bunk bed, in both rooms there is a wardrobe, the large veranda is comfortably furnished and in summer the main place to stay for many guests, in the cellar there is a washing machine and a freezer. The wood-fired sauna for 4-6 people is much used. The pavilion with barbecue facilities has room for 10 people and a staircase leads down to the bathing jetty on the river bank. A ladder leads down to the slowly flowing river water, which is approx. 1.5-2.0 metres deep at the bathing jetty.
Our house is surrounded by wide pine and spruce forests, which can be entered by everyone due to the Swedish right of access. In summer and autumn the forests are a paradise for berries and mushrooms, you can pick as many mushrooms and berries as you like and the lakes and rivers are very rich in fish, which can only be fished with a valid fishing licence. The Rottnan, our river, flows through the so-called Rottnatal, it is bordered by Bergen up to 500 metres high, and is in many places a river, and then again through widening a large wide lake, the Rottnan is often used as a canoe route from the Norwegian border to Lekvattnet it is at least 16 km.The Pägertjärn is the bathing lake in the area, only 500 kilometres from us and easily accessible via a forest path, the lake is also used as a "putt and take" fishing lake, where rainbow trout are released.
Lekvattnet, translated into German, means playing water, was settled by the Finns around the 16th century, which is why many old farmsteads and neighbourhoods still have Finnish names. The large forests around Lekvattnet are still called "Finnskogen" and the Finnskogscentrum in Lekvattnet is the old school and serves as a museum where many things from that time are kept and shown. The Finnskogcentrum is used for many seminars and events about the settlement by the Finns. There are three old Finn settlements here in Lekvattnet, most of which have been preserved as they were once farmed. Ritamäki is a mountain hut that was still in use in the old way until 1975.Kvarntorp is an old water-powered mill where grain used to be ground into flour and is now used as a restaurant serving old Finnish dishes. And then there is Kamenkyna, where many old houses, barns and huts from the area have been brought together, a kind of open-air museum, the main house, a so-called Rökstuga, is used as a restaurant where the old dish "Muti and Flesk" is served, here at Kamenkyna, the unfortunately felled largest spruce tree in Northern Europe is on display, it was 48 metres high and had a diameter of 85 cm 1 metre above the ground.
