The Space
It's a old house recently restored, super quiet, perfect for barbecues and dining in the garden.
If you have a car you can use this place as a base for visiting Umbria.
Guest Access
The place is located in a tiny valley within the Appennino Centrale.
You can walk up hills or along the river Nestore, which flows a hundred meters away from the house.
If you are more on lazy side of humanity, you can relax in in front of the house, in the balcony or in the large grass field and you can make yourself a dinner with the stone barbecue. Still, since physical activity is important, you can play Foosball in the porch (it's only a shame that foosball is not listed among the official sports because it is).
During the summer there are a number of feasts in the neighbor towns. For example in Castiglion Fiorentino there are the Hamburger Festival and the "Sagra della Bistecca Chianina" (steak feast). Not exactly a vegan population out there! Honestly, the people of that town are just celebrating every week by making up any sort brand new "tradition". I recall one year where the made the feast of "Sausages and Motorbikes" . No kidding..
Where to buy food.
There is a well furnished market at 2 km down the road. They have common consumer products but also local delicacies.
Animals. Since you are in a countryside in a low populated place, in a tiny valley with a river, the presence of animals should not surprise you.
Wild Animals.
Wildboars: you will not see them, because they are the shy type, but if you stay quite and silent, after 10pm or so you may hear them grunting and chewing.
Deers. Even more difficult to see in general, but a couple of them come down the hill every evening to drink at the river.
Foxes. If you don't have chickens or other farm animals to be stolen, you won't see neither foxes nor other similar predators.
Lizards. Lots of lizards, completely harmless.
Temperature. Of course you can check any website for the weather but here it is a true fact about the place:
there is no night where you can't use a sweater, no matter how hot was during the day.
The house has very large stone walls and, even if there is no air conditioning, it never becomes too hot inside.
For warming the place during the winter there is a wood stove. Just so you know: from December to April it is not a place where you can leave in the morning and go back in the evening because the stove needs to stay loaded.
Hot water is provided by a boiler system, after 6 minutes of running steamy water it need 20 minutes to warm it up again.
Bicycles. For stays longer than a week we can arrange for bicycles (2 euros per day per person)
