Summary: Apartment: While we didn't have any issues with bugs, the place definitely wasn't very clean on our arrival. The floors were dirty and the sheets didnโ€™t feel very clean to us. We washed the linens at a laundromat and cleaned up some using the basic cleaning supplies provided. The fridge, stove and bathroom were all really clean. There was plenty of space to store our hanging clothes. All air conditioning units were great, the wifi was super fast and reliable. The first bedroom is located away from the street, so it was really quiet and dark. The second bedroom/living room is a little louder and brighter but still totally fine. Both beds were comfy enough. The kitchen had cooking basics. Building: The apartment is on the 3rd floor and the steps are steep-ish. I don't think they would be an issue unless you have limited mobility or are carrying a lot of heavy stuff. There are three locked doors between the street and the apartment door which made me feel much safer. Location: The apartment is located on St Marks Place, which is like stepping out into a party every evening. The street can definitely be a bit loud, but hey! New York! There are subway stations and tons of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk. It was great for the month we stayed there but might not be appropriate if youโ€™re traveling with small kids. Host/Communication: We only spoke with Allie. We weren't getting responses through the VRBO messaging, but she called us a few days before our arrival to check in. After that initial contact, she was able to answer all our questions promptly and texted us a few days after our arrival to make sure we were good. The listing isnโ€™t very accurate, so here are some corrections: There is no Nespresso machine. There was a small stovetop Moccapot, but it was missing a critical part, so was unusable anyway. The description lists a clothing dryer and there isn't any laundry in the building (very typical for NYC). Summary: Overall, this apartment was great for the month trip we took. It wasnโ€™t a ~luxury experience~, but we werenโ€™t expecting one. It was a little loud and a little dirty, but nothing that affected our trip. The location was perfect for us and we were happy to have a place with plenty of room to sleep, work and prepare basic meals. The generous cancellation policy was a big sell for us, especially in the time of COVID. All things considered, we were really happy with our stay at this apartment.
