Betty is a mid-century ranch style mountain house fit for all seasons. Easily accessed, recently updated, and perfectly suited for small groups and families. Vintage charm with contemporary amenities. Mountain views. Two working fireplaces. Level 2 EV charging. Pet friendly! 14 min to Belleayre Mtn, 29 min to Hunter Mtn, 34 to Windham Mtn, 40 min to I-87.
We’re doing our best to help our guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces as well as waiting at least 24 hours between bookings.
Betty is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home located on a quiet road in Shandaken, NY.
Enter the house through the Great Room and be greeted by bright, large windows and a stunning fireplace. There are plenty of seating options for watching TV or simply enjoying a roaring fire. Use the multi-functional table to create a workspace during the day (WiFi speed 400/20), or play board games at night.
Enjoy your meals in the kitchen booth or at the larger dining table. The kitchen is stocked with essentials like salt and pepper, olive oil, sugar, as well as a variety of utensils and cookware so you can prepare a range of meals. We’ve also supplied kid-friendly dinnerware and cutlery. Light a fire in the wood burning stove and enjoy an extra cozy dining experience.
The first bedroom has a California King size bed dressed with luxury linens and extra soft pillows. Use the two dressers for clothing storage.
The second bedroom is just next to the king bedroom, with two twin beds, making it ideal for guests with children or for a group of friends. Each bed is fitted with pillow mattress toppers, hotel quality sheets, and extra soft pillows. Use the large closet to hang and store clothing. A nightlight can be found in this closet, as well as a small selection of children’s books. Extra blankets and pillows are also provided.
The bathroom is near the two bedrooms and has a shower/tub set up. We provide complimentary shampoo, body wash, and conditioner (Public Goods brand.) There is shelving and a medicine cabinet for guest storage. We also provide a hairdryer, extra towels, first aid kit, makeup remover cloths, washcloths, and more in the closet adjacent to the bathroom in the hallway. In this closet you will also find the designated “dog towel.”
Enjoy your cup of coffee in the sunroom, just off the kitchen. Here you will also have access to the yard and stairs to the driveway. The porch is screened in during the spring and summer months.
Charge up your electric vehicle with the supplied equipment in the garage. This 40 amp Level 2 charger has a J1772 plug, Tesla owners will need to bring their adapter.
Outdoors:
There are many areas of the property that are secluded from each other. The front yard, which faces north, is filled with mature perennials and wildflowers. Enjoy the tranquil sound of the natural spring passing through. The backside of the house has a small patio that can be accessed from the Great Room and the Sunroom.
Head across the road, directly across from the garage, and you will see where the spring continues to run. Guests have access to this area as it’s part of our property.
Pet-Friendly:
Betty loves pets! We’ve provided an extra leash, pet beds, bowls, towel, and a portable pet water bottle for your convenience. We charge an additional $25 fee per pet. Owners will be charged for any damages.
This is a whole house rental. You will have your run of the house and property.

Betty is located off the main roads on an inlet. The house is private and surrounded by trees 3 seasons out of the year. In the winter months, only 3 other houses are visible. Occasionally you can hear a car drive by but the stream tends to drown it out.
We recommend a car to get to the house.
Upstate Betty is located in the heart of the Catskills, surrounded by the best nature has to offer. However, if you're looking for social activities, Betty is only a few minutes to some of the best drinking and dining options in the area.
